Legal Advice

The DAWES Project can only provide legal advice on employment matters. We do not provide representation at employment tribunal but if this is needed we will assist women to find appropriate representation.

Legal Aid is not available to pay for representation at employment tribunal, however, there may be local agencies that will represent people free of charge. Some house insurance policies include some cover for legal costs.

For legal advice on other issues or to find a local solicitor contact Community Legal Advice (http://www.communitylegaladvice.org.uk/) on 0845 345 4 345.

Rights of Women (http://www.rightsofwomen.org.uk/adviceline.php) have legal information on their website and provide a legal advice line on subjects including domestic abuse, harrassment and relationship breakdown. The number is 020 7251 6577 (telephone) or 020 7490 2562 (textphone).

The National Centre for Domestic Violence (http://www.ncdv.org.uk/) help women to apply for emergency injunctions, they can be contacted on 0844 8044 999.
